# Arena Fighter: rename request for copec's bot versions

**To:** Tristan (or your agent), ladder operator of [arena.bagofassets.com](https://arena.bagofassets.com).
**From:** copec. Thanks for the per-bot version pages; this request is to make ours read consistently on them.

## Why

On 2026-10-06 copec settled on one naming scheme for his bots:

- **Development line:** `copec-dev@next`, a bot registered for this (owner `copec`). It changes constantly.
- **Releases:** `copec@r<N>-<commit>`, where N is the release number and the commit is the first 8 characters of
  the source commit the release was built from. A release never changes once it's live. The first is
  `copec@r1-74386352`, playing since 2026-10-06 ~22:00 MDT.

Before the scheme existed, the same two lines played under older names. Re-attributing those matches makes each
version's history on the ladder match what actually played. Everything from 22:00 MDT on already plays under the
new names; nothing below touches those matches.

## The renames

All times are MDT on 2026-10-06. Match ids are exactly as the ladder reports them.

**Leave as they are:** older `copec@next` matches (before 16:19 MDT; that version changed continually, so it has no
single release), and the `copec-gk@gk-…` exploration-campaign versions.

## Notes for the operator's agent

- **Rename 1 moves matches between bots** (`copec-gk` → `copec-dev`). copec-dev has played under `next` since 22:00
  MDT, so the moved matches join that same version and should come *before* its current history.
- **Ratings:** whatever is natural for the ladder. Recomputing the affected versions' Glicko-2 ratings from their
  re-attributed matches in time order would be ideal, but carrying the existing per-match rating changes over is
  fine too. Opponents' ratings needn't change: the matches themselves are unchanged.
- **`copec-gk`:** after rename 1 it keeps only its exploration-campaign versions. It's retired from play; feel
  free to retire its `next` version.
- **Version notes** (via `POST /api/me/versions`) are welcome:
  - `r0-81e6ae83`: "pinned build before numbered releases";
  - `r1-74386352`: "release 1".
